It wasn't quite a mug. It was a clay goblet that was more of a wine glass. It was nine or ten inches high, the stem was as thick as your big toe and was placed on the base at an angle. The "cup" portion was the size of a small wine glass.
I knocked it over and it broke. I was so upset as I used this particular goblet on a regular basis. Later that year, I told the artist who had crafted the goblet some 35 years ago that it had broken.
"Thank heavens ceramics break," he said with a big smile. "It helps keeps me in business."
So, who was this artist? It was you, my own brother-in-law.
Since the loss of my goblet, I've learned to appreciate your ceramic beer mug. When I want a cold one, I remove it from its home in my freezer door. (I have two of them for rotation purposes.)The mug is apparently much bigger than it looks because one beer seems to literally disappear into these mugs. Great design, Jim.
