VISITING ARTIST

Visiting Artist - Arno de Villiers

Picture
During his teenage years Arno’s parents returned from a European vacation with a 16mm movie that his father had shot of Positano, a beautiful fishing village on the Amalfi coast of Italy. The movie turned his impressionable young mind to research places of beauty, while always reflecting on what was special about them and why people would travel thousands of miles to visit them. This fostered his love of both art and architecture and set his direction in life.
In the years that followed Arno de Villiers has visited many beautiful villages on the globe, selecting unique angles and scenic vistas to sketch and paint in his colorful and graphic postEimpressionistic style.

While studying architecture, Arno held his first solo exhibition in South Africa shortly after winning an award in at a New Signatures exhibition. As an architect, based on his insights on village design, he wrote a treatise called “Back to the Village” and subtitled “How to design what people love” which is available to developers on his website villagebuilder.biz
Arno lives in Naples, Florida with his wife Ingrid an interior designer, and children Arno jnr. and Christine. He is founder member of a Naples gallery that became Gallery on Fifth and his paintings now grace the walls of homes on three continents! For framed original acrylic paintings on canvas and framed limited edition giclee copies on canvas, contact Arno at arnodevilliers@outlook.com

When all is awry in the world, good represents evil and vise versa, trust in yourself. You are the pilot of your own ship, and the multitudes are generally wrong.  This is a time-lapse stained glass of dolphins chasing bait fish. An attempt at three dimensional look on a two dimensional plane.  - Rick Wobbe
This design is a pair of hunting Snook. it is a stained glass piece created by the copper coin method, soldered and patina. it was videoed by using time lapse photography. i hope you enjoy it! - Rick Wobbe
This is a stained glass time lapse of a pair of loggerhead turtles shadowed by a pair of mako sharks. The process is time consuming as well as minute. Copper foil and soldered. The window frame is salvaged from a teardown in New Hampshire. - Rick Wobbe
